Following the devastating fire in Dhaka’s Korail area, the National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF) immediately initiated emergency relief activities to support affected garment workers and their families. The fire has severely impacted livelihoods, with approximately 1,500 NGWF members reported to be affected by the disaster.

As part of Phase 1 of the emergency response, on 12 December 2025, NGWF provided immediate relief support to 150 affected workers and their families to address urgent needs. Continuing its commitment, Phase 2 relief assistance was distributed on 19 December 2025, reaching an additional 100 affected workers and fire victims.
The Phase 2 relief distribution program was conducted in the presence of Amirul Haque Amin, President of NGWF, and Rofiqul Islam, General Secretary of NGWF, who stood in solidarity with the affected workers. During the program, speakers highlighted the extensive scale of the disaster and emphasized that many families continue to face severe hardship. They urged all concerned stakeholders to come forward and extend support, as the needs of affected workers remain urgent and significant.

NGWF remains firmly committed to continuing its relief initiatives to support workers affected by the Korail fire. The federation sincerely seeks continued cooperation and solidarity from partners, allies, and well-wishers so that assistance can be extended to more affected workers and their families in the coming days.
