In protest of Myanmar Genocides by Aung San Suu Kyi
& in protest of oppression of the garment workers by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus –
BURNING EFFIGY OF 2 NOBEL LAUREATES
Garments workers have burned the effigy of Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi due to the Myanmar genocide and Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus due to oppression of the garment workers. By the initiative of National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF), the program has held today, September 15, 2017, Friday, at 11am in front of National Press Club. Hundreds of garment worker along with the workers of Grameen Knitwear Ltd. (owned by Professor Dr. Mohammad Yunus, situated at Dhaka EPZ) participated in this program.
The speaker stated:
About the Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi: Almost all the people of the world including us, once demanded release of Aung San Suu Kyi from detention & also demanded cessation of Martial Law at Burma. Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 for her “nonviolent struggle for human rights.” But now, she is: (1.) Brutally killing thousands people; (2.) killing thousands of children; (3.) Backing to rape thousands of women; (4.) Burning thousands of houses; (5.) Forcing millions of people to leave their homeland. This is why, millions of Rohingya took shelter in Bangladesh. All of these heinous acts are nothing but genocides.
About Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus: He was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his efforts to create economic and social development. But this Nobel Laureate Dr. Yunus: (1.) established his garment factory in EPZ (Export Processing Zone) which is infamous for violating basic rights of the workers; (2.) From now, 2 years before, workers of his factory (Grameen Knitwear Ltd.) demanded a wage-raise and payment against their unused (yearly) earned leave. But Dr. Yunus did not care to fulfill these reasonable demands; (3.) Made false chaos at the factory by which the workers were accused & their demands were rejected by that excuse; (4.) Illegally sacked more than 200 workers were by taking opportunity of this false chaos of the factory; (5.) Did not pay legal compensations of sacked workers, (6.) Police-harassment of 81 workers by filing false-case against them; (7.) Even filed false-cases against those workers who were in leave at the day of that so-called chaos in the factory; (8.) Even, did not spare the female-workers who were in maternity leave at that time; (9.) Did not take any proper-step even after being notified (in written form) by the illegally sacked workers; (10.) 79 workers filed cases against him in the labour court, but he did not show up in the court. All these are heinous crime, oppression & torture against the garment workers.
So In protest of Myanmar Genocides by Aung San Suu Kyi & in protest of oppression of the garment workers by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the effigy of these two Nobel Laureates are burnt.
Presided over by the President of the Federation Amirul Hque Amin, the program was addressed by General Secretary Mrs. Arifa Akter; Central Leader Md. Faruq Khan; Ms. Safia Parvin; Md. Kobir Hossain; Md. Rafiqul Islam Rafiq & Md. Faridul Islam. Solidarity speech has given by, Bangladesh Youth Unity President Mr. Sabbah Ali Khan Colince.
